Kai is really hard to get moving around Kelsey Park. He is entranced by every animal he sees, rooted to the spot until he is sure, absolutely sure that it is not coming back. This often means a duration of 10 minutes has to elapse or you risk his wrath (we risk his wrath).
On my final day in hospital, I 'phoned Aki to tell her to come and pick me up. While I was on the mobile, I got a beep telling me there was another incoming call. I ignored it and finished my call with Aki. After, I found someone had left a voicemail.
It was Kai.
While Aki was talking to me on the landline, Kai was playing with her mobile, and had redialled the last number - Daddy. After the nice woman asked him to leave a message, he did. It started like this: "Moshi. Huff. Hhhhuf. Mmmbogugug..."
It was the nicest gift to receive on leaving the hospital.
