The last picture is of Kyoto Station. It's fairly different and is a stark contrast to the rest of Kyoto. If there's one thing Kyoto station shouts, it's "I'm modern!".
There are plenty of restaurants and shops dotted around this vast complex. At the top, there is the Sky Garden (although I didn't see any garden) which offers good views of the Kyoto cityscape and there's a helipad up there too. There are two suspended walkways which connect the opposite sides of the building; one of them can just be seen at the far end of the picture - the white line which moves gently up and to the right. Further, as there are stairs which climb all of the way from the bottom to the top, the visual from the top of the stairs (on the far side) offers an interesting sense of height and depth.
Finally, I'll just point out that the purple wording on the stairway opposite is an advert for the new Harry Potter film.
Rest in peace Richard Harris, A Man Called Horse and a wizard called Dumbledore.
