17 May 2003: Roppongi Hills

Work is proving to be a dominating force in my life, and I suppose no-one would be surprised to discover that an increase in the number of tasks assigned is positively correlated with an increase in the number of hours worked.

Japanese keeps going back and forth. BGI Japan is a great environment for learning Japanese, giving the low percentage of foreign workers there, but there are times when the words just completely fall apart and suddenly you can't even piece together a simple sentence like "watashi-no inu wa hana ga nai desu." And then start trying to work the direction of actions and that's it, I'm ready to throw in the towel. If it wasn't for the great moments when it all comes together, when you understand things you couldn't have understood without Japanese, then perhaps it would be tempting to bring it to an end.

This year is a great year for PC games, if you're that kind of person. This year's E3 has promised Thief 3, Half-Life 2, Doom 3, Halo (PC) and Deus Ex 2. Who has enough time to play all of this? I'm tempted to go on sabbatical just to get through these new releases.

Finally, here are some pictures of Roppongi Hills, a new development recently opened in Tokyo. It's interesting to go there and explore, but a bit crowded and expensive. Also, there's been another update across at Wanderfor those interested.
