Let me explain a little bit about marriage in Japan. There is no reason for a ceremony at all. Absolutely none. In fact, regardless of the ceremony you have, you will still need to make an extra visit to a local ward office to have your marriage made legal.
So we travelled to the Koto-ku ward office in Toyocho on Thursday March 18. Aki took a day off work. I managed to sneak out of the office for a longer-than-normal lunchtime. We filled in some forms, answered some questions and handed in some supporting documentation. After around 40 minutes, apparently it was all over.
I had to at least add a semblance of occasion to the proceedings, and asked the nice ward office person to take a picture of us. So here it is, Aki and Joel on their wedding day. Minus wedding that is. And that smile looks a bit too sheepish.
