08 Aug 2005: Castle In A Fallen Kingdom

DLR Close And Personal

What is it with bizarre spooky adverts in the UK that are intended to be warm feel-good pieces? I previously mentioned the Singing In The Rain advert in May.

Recently, the AA has been putting out adverts saying that they have people available everywhere, ready to service you at any moment. They follow this up with a chilling moment, similar to something out of Night of the Living Dead, a horde of yellow-suited AA staff walking in slow motion, with grave intent, towards a helpless striken female driver on the hard shoulder. After that, I'm going to keep wooden stakes, silver bullets and a machete in the boot of any car I drive from now on.

(The machete is for decapitating zombies. Apologies if that wasn't clear.)
