This was Kai's first real experience of the sea. When we'd visited Camber Sands a few days before, he'd kept his distance. I think it helped that he was feeling a bit tired.
The cottage also marked Kai's first time in a bed. He was still sleeping in a cot prior to the trip and, at the cottage, he acquired a real bed. We were expecting major problems but, to our surprise, he was really happy.
