29 May 2004: Honeymoon in Kyushu

Day Three: Nagasaki Some More

On the third day, we remained in Nagasaki. The weather was quite poor, but nothing we couldn't handle. We wandered down to the Dejima Bay area and spent some time exploring the restored buildings there.

In the afternoon, we went to the Atomic Bomb Museum. One of the most striking images was a cathedral wall that survived the blast, relocated inside the museum. The statues there had once stood to represent holiness; now they appeared saddened and disappointed, lonely survivors of nuclear fire.
