So we travelled down to Midhurst in Sussex to spend a good week at a National Trust cottage.
I don't know if their business model is very clever considering they raise prices in Autumn and all rises are applied to existing bookings; so if you book a cottage in December in advance to beat the rush, you will be asked for more money once the rises are determined. Perhaps no one gave a damn about it in the past because the amounts were small. Not so this year. As we come out of a recession and, quite possibly, head back into another one, the NT raised rental prices significantly.
A lot of cottage fans have decided its just too expensive now.
