Rangitoto Island

On our third day in Auckland, it rained. At first we thought our plans to go to the forbidding Rangitoto Island had gone the way of Waitomo Caves, but the rain soon subsided.

Rangitoto Island is yet another extinct volcano. It's a very flat volcano (and not easy to take a decent photo of), now overrun with trees and vegetation, providing an interesting diversion. We didn't have enough time to explore the island completely, as the rain had delayed our arrival, but we did have enough time to climb to the top of the crater.

Yeah, I was pretty tired.
