01 Jul 2007: Jersey, the Job and Joel

Medieval

The castle is pretty damn cool. It's a beautiful place, made even more beautiful by the fact that practically every room can be explored. They've done themselves proud here and put something in almost every room for you to have a look at. I actually learnt some goddamn history here. So, as a result, we spent many more hours in this place than we had intended.

There are a few "almost secret" rooms that are very easy to miss. For example, there is the plague chamber that is only accessible from the first level of battlements. As you approach, the room is initially silent and dark, but then the electronics detect you're there - and activate an eerie rotating model of skeletons in different poses, depicting the onset of plague. And a creepy tune plays in the background. Can't believe we almost missed that one.
