This is Ernie Mathews, who runs Prime Coffee, the main business of which is supplying corporate clients with coffee services. Fortunately, that's not the end of the story; Ernie also runs the Thames Barrier Park cafe.
When I was in Japan, I spent a lot of time in Starbucks outlets for two reasons: Japanese coffee is typically super-bitter (nigasugi if you will) and their coffee houses are smoking-friendly (and thus not Joel-friendly). I was happy to discover Rie Coffee, a small business that imported top quality coffee. I originally discovered them in Japan Inc magazine and went along to their small cafe buried in Nishi-shinjuku. They had just six seats, but the delightful coffee was well worth the visit.
So even if I can't visit Rie Coffee anymore, I can at least visit a London equivalent in the shape of the Thames Barrier Park cafe.
At this point, it would be customary to make sarcastic comments about Ernie, like I do for any other hapless victim caught by my camera lens. However, I don't want to get barred from the cafe so I will just add that he is a swell guy and has excellent taste in clothes.
