So here we are, the present day. I leave Japan married, with more than a few kanji characters trapped in my neural pathways. Tokyo has treated me quite well, despite the cultural differences, the language chasm and my ongoing hair recession. How can I sum up my experiences in Japan? If I discount the barium milk, natto, and the mushibonyu affair then it's been pretty damn cool.
To everyone I met in Japan, gaijin too, take good care of yourselves and please keep in touch.
To everyone I haven't yet met in Japan, I apologise but my time was rather limited. Perhaps next time.
Time to go.
さようなら。
