06 May 2006: Ambleside

A picture

Day One, Preamble

After an eight-hour journey from door-to-door, we were ready to hit town. The town of Ambleside is a small affair, peppered with cafes and souvenir shops, completed with the appropriate number of outdoor equipment shops. I did notice a butcher or two as well. Virtually all of the local buildings are graced with beautiful stonework, which you will see on a later picture.

We struck out into Rothay Park and accompanied the River Rothay for a short distance, where the above picture was taken.
